Fresh off a historic 2024 season, Julien Alfred, the reigning Paris Olympic champion and Diamond League 100m titleholder, is set to electrify the track once again. Organizers have officially confirmed that Alfred will compete in the 2025 Wanda Diamond League at the prestigious Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway on June 12 and the BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm, Sweden on June 15.
A Sprinting Star on the Rise
Julien Alfred’s transition from collegiate sprint star to global powerhouse has been nothing short of remarkable. After dominating at the University of Texas, Alfred stepped onto the professional stage in 2024 and delivered a season for the ages.
Her year included:
Gold in the 60m at the World Indoor Championships
Olympic gold in the 100m and silver in the 200m at the Paris Olympics
Diamond League 100m champion, with victories in Monaco, Brussels, and podium finishes in Zurich, Eugene, and London
Alfred’s performance in the Paris Olympic Games was historic. She sprinted to a personal best of 10.72 seconds in the women’s 100m final at Stade de France, securing the title of the world’s fastest woman.
Scandinavian Debut: Oslo and Stockholm Await
Now, Alfred is gearing up to showcase her speed in Scandinavia—a long-held dream for the sprinting sensation.
“Visiting the Scandinavian countries is one of my dreams, especially doing what I love...running fast,” Alfred shared in a statement.
Her upcoming races will be closely watched, particularly in Stockholm, where meet director Jan Kowalski expressed excitement about Alfred’s appearance.
“We are happy to welcome the 100 meters champion to our town and we are glad that she has chosen to compete in the Wanda Diamond League series. We have an old stadium record of 10.90 from 1994 that we look forward to being broken,” Kowalski said.
Given Alfred’s current form, the Stockholm stadium record seems well within her reach.
Chasing More Records and Glory
Alfred’s 2024 dominance suggests she is far from finished rewriting the record books. With her powerful start, flawless acceleration, and top-end speed, she is poised to continue challenging long-standing records and maintaining her reign as a global sprinting force.
The Oslo and Stockholm meets will not only be an opportunity for Alfred to continue her winning streak but also to build momentum for the remainder of the 2025 Diamond League season and beyond.
A Season of High Expectations
As the sprint queen of 2024, Alfred now faces the challenge of defending her titles and chasing even faster times. Her Scandinavian debut is set to be one of the most highly anticipated events on the Diamond League calendar. Fans will be eager to see if she can shatter the Stockholm stadium record and continue her global dominance in the 100m.
